Founded in 1998, Gconnect is a leading provider of hosted business solutions. The company – which has over 500 customers in 17 countries – provides hosted email applications, web services, cloud computing solutions, MPLS networking services and global VPN solutions.

The company – which is based in Greater Manchester – began life as an ISP delivering email and web services. Over the past ten years, under the watch of its two directors, Dan Massey and Richard Seear, the company has significantly expanded its service portfolio. Gconnect still offers all of the services of a typical ISP, but has also become a specialist at delivering hosted solutions based on Microsoft and Citrix Technologies. Gconnect’s expertise in this field is reflected by its Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status, and its close working relationship with Microsoft.

Gconnect understands the needs of small and medium sized businesses and appreciates that many organisations have a limited IT budget. The company’s cloud computing offerings are targeted at those businesses that want to reduce their hardware costs and allow their employees to work remotely. To support those kinds of businesses, Gconnect offers a range of services based on pay-as-you-go licencing.

Organisations that are interested in cutting their costs and reducing their carbon footprint can take advantage of Gconnect’s server virtualisation offering. Typically aimed at organisations with 5-10 servers, the service allows organisations to utilise their server resources more effectively. Only those servers that are required to perform an action are utilised, allowing businesses to reduce their running costs by as much as 50%.

Gconnect runs a constantly developing Cisco network, which is monitored and maintained by its in house Cisco certified engineers. In addition, the company is a member of RIPE, a position which allows it to maintain independent IP address space.
